Contract Awarded.

HEB Construction has been awarded the tender for the construction of Stage 1 of the Ashburton Business Estate. Once complete this work will create a little over 45ha of flat and serviced business land available for development and close to 8ha for the proposed future local rail operations centre. Within the work scope is;

• 6km of stormwater swales and a stormwater infiltration pond
• 7km of waterman
• 3.8km of wastewater pipelines
• 6.1km of kerb & channel
• 3.48 km of Roads
• A wastewater pumping station
• Telecom and power supply
• Earthworks and bunding in the buffer area and around the proposed rail operations.

HEB Construction is expected to start on site 30 September with the initial focus of the physical works being the formation of the buffer area and bunding as this will reduce the effects arising from construction works within the development.

Landscaping and planting will be carried out as a separate contract and will be programmed to commence as soon as the earthworks are complete although some planting has already occurred adjacent to Northpark Road due to the availability of surplus mature trees elsewhere in the district.
